Olivia Rodrigo speaks out about Taylor Swift feud rumours

Olivia Rodrigo has spoken out about rumours that she and Taylor Swift are feuding.

The Good 4 U hitmaker has addressed long-running rumours of tension between her and the Lavender Haze hitmaker, insisting she tries not to let speculation affect her.

Speaking on the latest episode of the New York Times’ Popcast podcast, Olivia, 23, reflected on years of online discussion surrounding her relationship with Taylor, 36.

“I think I tried to not let it get to me or upset me. I think I just try to keep it trucking,” she said. “It was so long ago. I think there’s no use in harping on it.”

The Grammy winner went on to explain that she has “always” tried to support other artists throughout her career.

“I just try to make songs that I love and try to be kind and good to other people and supportive of other people,” she stated. “I’ve always tried to be like that. At the end of the day, I think that’s all you can do.”

Rumours of tension between the pair first emerged in 2021 following the release of Olivia’s debut album Sour.

Fans and critics pointed to similarities between her song Déjà vu and Taylor’s Cruel Summer, with Olivia previously revealing she had been inspired by Taylor’s vocal styling on the track.

Months later, Taylor and her frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent were added as co-writers on Déjà vu, giving them songwriting credits and a share of the royalties.

Speculation later intensified when some fans suggested Olivia’s 2023 hit Vampire, which includes lyrics such as “bloodsucker, fame f**ker, bleedin’ me dry”, could reference Taylor and the royalty controversy.

However, neither artist has publicly suggested they have fallen out and the pair have shown support for each other in the past.

In a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Olivia also insisted she does not have “beef with anyone” in the music industry.

“I’m very chill. I keep to myself,” she stated. “I have my four friends and my mom, and that’s really the only people I talk to, ever. There’s nothing to say. There’s so many Twitter conspiracy theories. I only look at alien conspiracy theories.”
