Ozzy Osbourne‘s eldest son Louis has spoken about his late father’s “humbling” funeral in a rare interview with half-brother Jack – see what he had to say below.

The metal icon passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, just over two weeks after he played his last ever show as the frontman of Black Sabbath at a concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.
Osbourne was laid to rest in the grounds of his UK mansion during a private ceremony that was attended by Elton John, members of Metallica and more. His cortege had previously travelled through his home city of Birmingham in a procession attended by thousands of fans.
Now, Louis – whose mother is Ozzy’s first wife Thelma Riley – appeared on his half-brother Jack’s podcast series Trying Not To Die, where they spoke about a myriad of topics surrounding their father.
Discussing their late father’s funeral, Louis shared that he was shocked by how many people attending the procession: “I just thought it was going to be two or three people deep for half a kilometre before where the Black Sabbath bridge was and it would be a throng.”
“As we came towards the street and turned onto the street — I’m getting goosebumps thinking about it now, it was fucking insane!” Louis said. “People climbing up lampposts, hanging out of windows, standing on top of bus stops to get a look at it. It was awe-inspiring.”
He continued: “Once we’d all got out of the cards and shown our respects and moved on again, it kept on going for another half a mile. And people were following us all around town… I knew people loved him, but I didn’t have a sense of how many and how much. It’s been quite humbling in many, many ways.”
Louis later also said that the funeral revealed to him the cultural impact Ozzy Osbourne had on music: “I’ve always known his music. Honestly, personally I’m more of a Sabbath fan than I am of his solo work – not to say I don’t love his solo work as well but I’ve always said Sabbath’s in my bones, in my genes. But I’ve never come to terms with or got my head around the fact of just how much of a cultural impact and how culturally important he was.”
He acknowledged that he wasn’t taking his father’s fame “for granted,” prompting Jack to note, “It’s just when you’re in it, you don’t see it… It’s just dad.”
In other news, the Osbourne family recently revealed that both Donald Trump and King Charles reached out to them after Ozzy’s death in July.
They also revealed that Ozzy was secretly hospitalised just two weeks before his final concert. While he had struggled with a number of medical conditions over the years– including Parkinson’s Disease – Jack shared that “things started getting worse” in the first week of December 2024, when Ozzy “took a little fall”.
In September, Sharon thanked fans for their “overwhelming love and support” and said she was “still finding my footing” following her husband’s passing. Jack had previously shared a “personal note” about his father in a video on his YouTube channel, while Kelly explained how she had found her “smile again” amid the “sadness and grief”.
