Ozzy Osbourne’s family felt ‘terrified’ before Villa Park concert

Ozzy Osbourne’s family were “terrified” before he performed his final concert.

The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22, 2025, aged 76, and Sharon Osbourne, his widow, has now recalled her concerns before his last-ever show at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5.

Speaking to the BBC, Sharon recalled: “He was sat in his dressing room, watching everybody on a screen performing, and he was like, ‘I just can’t believe they’re all here’.

“It’s amazing what support and love and determination can do for you, because [before the show] he was somebody that couldn’t breathe. He had a lung condition. He had a heart condition. He had terrible, terrible agony from his spine. He had blood clots and he had Parkinson’s.

“Some days just to even talk was an effort, let alone sing. And I don’t know how he did it, but he did it.

“And you saw it in his eyes, in his face. It just made him feel like he was alive again.”

Despite his health issues, Ozzy expressed an ambition to go on tour after performing at Villa Park.

Sharon shared: “He was raring to go. He was like, ‘I can do this, and the fans don’t mind if I’m sat down’.”

Meanwhile, Sharon previously explained that Ozzy felt “ready” to die shortly before he passed away.

During an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon shared: “He had told me that he was having dreams in the last week of his life. He was seeing people that he never knew.

“I said, ‘Well, what kind of people?’ He goes, ‘All different people. And I just keep walking and walking, and I’m seeing all these different people every night, and I go back there and I’m looking at these people, and they’re looking at me, and nobody’s talking’. And he knew. He was ready.”

Sharon, 74 – who married Ozzy in 1982 – also recalled details of their final evening together.

She shared: “He was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4.30 and he said, ‘Wake up’. I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up’. And he said, ‘Kiss me’. And then he said, ‘Hug me tight’.

“I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter. And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away.”
