Paul McCartney and Oasis brothers make Sunday Times Rich List as UK’s wealthiest musicians revealed

Sir Paul McCartney and Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have secured places on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, as the annual rankings reveal the wealthiest figures in British music.

McCartney remains the only musician in UK history to reach billionaire status, with the former Beatle and his wife, Lady Nancy listed with a combined fortune of £1.055 billion.

Their wealth continues to rise through touring, publishing, catalogue reissues and the enduring commercial power of The Beatles’ legacy, which remains one of the most valuable cultural brands in the world.

Further down the list, Noel and Liam Gallagher – who made a triumphant return after 16 years with their Oasis Live ’25 tour last year – make a joint appearance with an estimated £375 million between them.

It’s the first time the pair have made the list.

The figure reflects their solo careers, publishing rights and the long-lasting global demand for Oasis’ music.

Despite years of public tension, the brothers remain among the most financially successful British artists of the past three decades, with their catalogue continuing to generate major streaming and licensing revenue.

While McCartney is the highest-ranking musician, the overall list is once again dominated by industry moguls.

At the top is Sir Leonard Blavatnik, whose vast business empire – including ownership of Warner Music Group – places him at £26.852 billion, far ahead of every other music-linked figure in the UK.

Second place goes to Clive Calder, the low-profile co-founder of Zomba and former owner of Jive Records, with £3.25 billion. Calder’s influence on pop history remains enormous, having helped launch the careers of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC.

Theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh ranks next with £1.4 billion, thanks to decades of global success with productions such as Les Misérables, Hamilton and The Phantom of the Opera.

Other major names on the list include Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber at £516 million, Sir Elton John at £480 million, and Rolling Stones icons Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, tied at £450 million each. Ed Sheeran, the wealthiest artist of his generation, follows with £410 million, while Emily Eavis and family – the team behind Glastonbury Festival – are valued at £400 million.

The Sunday Times’ top 11 richest musicians in the UK:

1. Sir Leonard Blavatnik (£26.852 billion)

2. Clive Calder (£3.25 billion)

3. Sir Cameron Mackintosh (£1.4 billion)

4. Sir Paul and Lady (Nancy) McCartney (£1.055 billion)

5. Lord Lloyd-Webber (£516 million)

6. Sir Elton John (£480 million)

7. Sir Mick Jagger (£450 million)

8. Keith Richards (£450 million)

9. Ed Sheeran (£410 million)

10. Emily Eavis and family (£400 million)

11. Noel and Liam Gallagher (£375 million)
