Peabo Bryson dead at 75

Peabo Bryson has died aged 75.

A rep confirmed to Billboard that the Grammy-winning singer of legendary love songs passed away on Tuesday.

Bryson had suffered a stroke over the weekend and was under medical care.

“With broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer Peabo Bryson announces his passing,” a statement from Bryson’s family reads.

“He transitioned peacefully at 5 pm ET on the evening of Tuesday, 2 June, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.”

Bryson, known for being the voice behind the Academy Award-winning Disney songs Beauty and the Beast with Celine Dion and A Whole New World (Aladdin’s Theme) with Regina Belle, earned two Grammy wins in a career that dated back to 1978.

Over that time, he amassed a string of R&B hits, including I’m So Into You, All My Love, Gimme Some Time with Natalie Cole, and the slow dance classic Tonight, I Celebrate My Love with Roberta Flack.

Bryson was married to British singer and former The 411 member Tanya Boniface. The couple married in 2010 and shared a son, Robert, who was born in 2018.

Bryson also leaves behind a grown-up daughter, Linda, from a previous relationship, as well as several grandchildren.

In April 2019, it was reported that Bryson had suffered a heart attack, from which he made a full recovery at the time.
