Pink Floyd have announced a new compilation album, ‘8-Tracks’. Find all the details below.

The collection shines a light on eight essential classic songs from the legendary band’s 1971-1979 era. It is due for release on vinyl, CD and digital streaming platforms on Friday June 5 via Sony Music. Pre-order/pre-save here.

‘8-Tracks’ features the popular tracks ‘Money’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2’, ‘Time’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’, along with the earlier cuts ‘One Of These Days’ and ‘Wot’s… Uh The Deal’.

It also boasts an exclusive full version of ‘Pigs On The Wing’, which was previously available on the 1977 ‘Animals’ eight-track cartridge release.

The track sequence for the new compilation has been edited by Steven Wilson using sound effects sourced from the original multitracks to make for a continuous listening experience “in classic Floydian style”.

“‘8-Tracks’ documents the full measure of Pink Floyd’s transition into their breakthrough era, propelled into superstardom throughout the 1970s,” an official description reads.

The project celebrates the eight-year period that spawned some of Pink Floyd’s most successful and celebrated records ever: 1971’s ‘Meddle’, 1972’s ‘Obscured By Clouds’, 1973’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’, 1975’s ‘Wish You Were Here’, 1977’s ‘Animals’ and 1979’s ‘The Wall’.

“Collectively, it’s a body of work that sees Pink Floyd shifting far beyond the early psychedelic pop Syd Barrett era and their post-experimental output, cementing their global status as one of the greatest rock bands of all time,” it adds.

‘8-Tracks’ will provide an entry point for new listeners, while offering a carefully curated collection for longtime fans to revisit and appreciate.

The full tracklist for Pink Floyd’s ‘8-Tracks’ is:

Side A
1. ‘One Of These Days’
2. ‘Wot’s… Uh The Deal’
3. ‘Money’
4. ‘Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2’

Side B
1. ‘Wish You Were Here’
2. ‘Time’
2. ‘Comfortably Numb’
4. ‘Pigs On The Wing’ (full version originally released on the ‘Animals’ eight-track cartridge and exclusive to this compilation)

Meanwhile, David Gilmour‘s legendary ‘Black Strat’ recently became the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction.

In late 2025, Gilmour celebrated Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ landing the Christmas Number One album spot.

It marked the band’s second UK Number One record of last year, following on from ‘Pink Floyd At Pompeii – MCMLXXII’. The live album of a 1971 show was first released as a concert film in 1972, and re-released with newly mixed audio in 2025. A 4K version of the movie arrived, too.

Pink Floyd also shared the music video for the ‘Wish You Were Here’ title track over the festive period, 50 years after its release.

Last autumn, Gilmour said there was “no possible way” that he would ever work with his former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters again.
