A plane belonging to Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil has been involved in a deadly crash.
According to airport officials, a small jet incoming from Austin, Texas veered off the runway and collided with a larger jet at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon.
One person died and four others were injured.
Journalists at ABC 15 Arizona have reported that it appears the landing plane’s left main gear failed upon landing.
And in a statement issued via social media, spokesperson Worrick Robinson confirmed Neil was the owner of the jet.
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane,” he said. “More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation.”
To conclude, Robinson insisted Neil’s “thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved”.
“He is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today,” he added.
Meanwhile, TMZ has reported the musician’s girlfriend, Rain Hannah, was onboard his jet and suffered five broken ribs in the accident. Sources told the outlet that Hannah and a friend named Ashley were being treated for injuries in a local hospital.
The tragic news comes after a U.S. Army helicopter collided mid-air with an American Airlines plane over the Potomac River in Arlington, Virginia last month. All 67 people onboard the aircrafts were killed.
