45-year-old Lee Claydon died from bodily injuries sustained in the fall at Wembley Stadium in August

London’s Metropolitan Police has concluded its investigation into the death of Lee Claydon, who died while attending an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium in August. According to BBC, the department believes the 45-year-old’s death was accidental. Claydon died after falling from a balcony on the upper level of the stadium toward the end of the concert.

“We do not suspect any third-party involvement,” Detective Sergeant James Raffin said. “This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident.” Police have ruled out suicide as a possible cause, and a toxicology report raised “no concerns,” Raffin continued. The case is not considered to be criminal. The department previously issued a call to fans in attendance who either witnessed the fall or happened to capture the incident on video to contact them.

“From a police point of view, I would say our investigation is complete,” Raffin said. Barnet Coroner will issue a complete examination into the incident in February.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,” Oasis shared in a statement following Clayton’s death. “Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

At the time, Clayton’s identity had not been confirmed. It was reported that authorities responded to a call at 10:19 p.m. that a man “was found with injuries consistent with a fall.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clayton’s father described him as a “hard-working family man,” BBC reports. “People have said horrible things but it was just an accident.” The elder Clayton also remarked that his son “may have had a couple of beers but had not taken any drugs.”

In a Facebook post, his brother Aaron wrote, “Still in shock and cannot believe I am writing this, but sadly over the weekend I lost my best mate the man I looked up to and the man I was lucky enough to call my brother Lee Claydon.”
