Peermusic has acquired Sydney-based company 120 Publishing, with Karen Hamilton appointed as managing director, Australasia, at Peermusic. With the deal, Peermusic holds 120 Publishing’s approximately 5,000 works and 120,000 administered projects.

“The acquisition of 120 Publishing marks our continued investment in the Australasian market and repertoire,” Mary Megan Peer said in a statement. “We are proud to steward a catalog with such artistic talent and cultural importance, ensuring these songs and songwriters continue to find new opportunities globally. Ralph and I are thrilled to welcome Karen to the helm of Peermusic Australia.”

Ralph W. Peer added, “120 Publishing is an impressive company, grown and run by an exceptional executive, Karen Hamilton. With this acquisition we have a unique opportunity to grow our presence in Australia and to enhance the services we are able to provide our writers at both the local and global level. Karen has built a vibrant community of writers coupled with an impressive collection of local and international hits and I am so pleased she will be bringing those same skills to peermusic Australia. As we integrate the 120 song catalog, Karen will continue to provide a dedicated home that honors the creative vision of those writers while offering them greater reach through Peermusic’s global network.”

120 Publishing was founded by Tim McGee, TMWR Group’s CEO, back in 2009. Hamilton first joined the company in 2011, and has held jobs in A&R, copyright, royalties and licensing throughout her career.

“As a publishing company that is truly both independent and global, Peermusic is in a class of its own,” Hamilton said in a statement. “When I started working in 120 Publishing fifteen years ago, my goal was to put our songwriters first, do the right thing by them, and help create international opportunities for them. In Peermusic, I’ve found a partner who truly shares those values and delivers on that mission. Joining forces with Peermusic gives our songwriters the infrastructure and global reach to achieve their career goals much faster. Our writers will no doubt benefit from Peermusic’s international creative opportunities and worldwide administrative network. I look forward to working with the Peermusic team and I am honored to be working with this incredible roster of songwriters.” — Ariel King

  • Payton Sullivan (Sony Music Publishing)

Payton Sullivan has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing, the company announced. The Florida-born and Nashville-raised singer/songwriter puts a Hawaiian spin on country music and released the singles “F150” and “Blondie.”

“Any team that’ll wear bikini top T-shirts for you is a ride-or-die team,” Sullivan said in a statement. “I’ve been writing songs since I was five, and dreaming of this life in my bedroom, so joining Rust, Tom, and everyone at Sony Music Publishing means the world. None of this would be possible without the songs, and I can’t wait to write the next chapter with them.”

Tom Luteran, president of Sony Music Publishing Nashville, and Synnovea Halsel, manager of creative A&R, added, “With southern roots running as deep as her island breezes, Payton brings a high-octane energy to the genre that is entirely her own. Her electrifying debut release captures that signature larger-than-life spirit. We are excited to have her on the Sony Music Publishing team.” — Ariel King

  • Riley Biederer (Reservoir)

Riley Biederer has signed a publishing deal with Reservoir for her catalog and future works. The deal serves as a joint venture with superreal, which Biederer has been signed with since 2024.

“I’m so excited to be entering this next chapter with my superreal crew by adding Reservoir to the family,” Biederer said in a statement. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved music like nothing else, and I feel incredibly grateful to have a group of people alongside me and championing my craft who feel the same joy and passion for songs that I do. I truly feel like I’ve lucked out with such a dream team, and I can’t wait to see what we do together.”

Josh Toll, vp and head of A&R at superreal added, “When we signed Riley to superreal, we were immediately struck by her lyricism and ability to tell memorable stories through song. We’ve always been intentional about keeping the superreal roster selective and going all-in on writers who have something truly special, and Riley immediately felt like someone worth making that kind of bet on. As Riley continues to grow, particularly within Nashville and country music, we wanted to build an environment where that evolution could continue while bringing in another exceptional team. Reservoir is the right partner for that next chapter, and we’re excited to be working with them.”

John Ozier, executive vp of creative at Reservoir, added, “Riley is a versatile songwriter and artist, with a strong creative voice and an impressive network of collaborators across genres. She is a great asset to the growing country music community in Los Angeles, while her adaptability gives her the opportunity to work well beyond the country space. With Reservoir’s global team and reach across Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, and beyond, we’re excited to connect Riley to new creative opportunities and collaborators across our network. We’re thrilled to be working alongside superreal to support Riley as she continues to build on all that she’s already accomplished.” — Ariel King
