Masked collective occupy Ubiquiti’s Manhattan office in effort to stop the use of their tech to assist Russian military’s communications

Pussy Riot occupied the Manhattan offices of Ubiquiti Friday to protest the tech company’s “role in Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine,” the group said in a statement.

In a video statement, Pussy Riot member Nadya explained how the Russian military has relied on Ubiquiti to communicate with troops on the frontline, and in doing so assisted in “thousands of documented cases of war crimes by the russian army.”

Since the disabling of Starlink, the Russian Military has a few options for communications on the battlefield – according to President Zelensky ‘Russians are looking for alternatives and will build them.’ Exasperated Russian soldiers exclaimed ‘All we’ve got left now are radios, cables and pigeons,’” Pussy Riot said in a statement.

“But Ubiquiti’s hardware has emerged as the favorite replacement – with countless units now doing fundraisers for these long range bridges – which beam communication up to 15km to the frontline. There are thousands of documented cases of war crimes by the russian army – targeting civilians, killing pows, raping women – civilians and prisoners , mass graves the list goes on.”

The masked collective congregated outside Ubiquiti’s corporate office Friday to protest the company as well as deliver three demands: “Obey US sanctions, acknowledge use by Russian Army, and work with Ukraine to stop this use.”

Shortly after the protest, Pussy Riot said that Ubiquiti responded to their demands by having their partner company Square “deactivate the account we use to sell T-shirts at our gigs.” “Going after Russian feminist activists in exile, but not after Russian war criminals. Cringe,” they wrote on social media.

So, @Ubiquiti responded to our action. A few hours after we showed up at their headquarters in Manhattan, @Square – Ubiquiti’s partner company – deactivated the account we use to sell T-shirts at our gigs.
