Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme to appear on ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’

Josh Homme is set to make an appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox.

The reality show sees a host of famous faces “sharing their sharp, insightful and funny points of view” as they watch various TV programmes, news broadcasts and films. Season eight is currently airing on Channel 4, with episodes being broadcast every Friday.

Today (Thursday July 16), it’s been confirmed that Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Homme will feature on tomorrow night’s edition (Friday July 17).

He’ll be sharing the sofa with Scissor Sisters singer and actor Jake Shears, his longtime friend. Homme made a cameo appearance in the video for Shears’ 2018 solo song ‘Big Bushy Mustache’, with the latter later contributing to Homme’s ‘Desert Sessions…’ album.

“Meet friends (and rock legends) Jake and Josh,” reads an announcement post, containing a preview picture of the pair in front of the television.

Celebrity Gogglebox continues at 9pm BST on Channel 4 tomorrow. The new episode will be available to stream on-demand via Channel 4’s official streaming platform shortly afterwards.

The current series of Celebrity Gogglebox has also featured regulars Shaun Ryder and Bez from Happy Mondays, as well as former Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton, Spandau Ballet‘s Martin Kemp, and The Inbetweeners star James Buckley.

Other musicians to have appeared on the show in previous years include Liam and Noel Gallagher, Yungblud, Self Esteem, Mel C, Sam Ryder and Tom Grennan.

Homme’s episode comes on the heels of Queens Of The Stone Age returning with ‘Easy Street’ – their first new single since 2023 album ‘In Times New Roman…’. The band had debuted the song live last autumn as part of their ‘Catacombs’ tour.

QOTSA are currently opening for System Of A Down on their UK and European stadium tour. The two groups played at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday (July 13), ahead of a second show at the venue on Wednesday (July 15).

Earlier on the trek, Homme and co. dusted off some deep cuts from their 2007 album ‘Era Vulgaris’, including the first airing of ‘Run, Pig, Run’ since 2008.

The band will open for Foo Fighters on the North American leg of their ‘Take Cover’ stadium tour later this summer. QOTSA have announced their first Icelandic show since 2005 for this October, too.

They played a stripped-back concert at the historic Parisian Catacombs back in 2024, which was captured for an accompanying concert film and live album. NME gave Alive In The Catacombs a four-star review, hailing it as a “moving and meditative concert doc”.

In 2024, Homme promised to “roll his sleeves up” so that the fans wouldn’t have to wait so long for Queens Of The Stone Age’s next record. There was a six-year gap between 2017’s ‘Villains’ and ‘In Times New Roman…’.

Homme and bandmate Dean Fertita had previously spoken to NME in late 2023 about the group, their personal battles and plans for the future.

“I think we should be making something,” Homme explained at the time. “The mantra of the last five years was, ‘It won’t be long now!’ That needs to pertain to making things too. I certainly think we should make more, faster-er, better-er.”
