Radiohead postpone shows due to Thom Yorke’s “extreme throat infection”

Radiohead have announced that they have been forced to postpone two shows at the last minute due to Thom Yorke having an “extreme throat infection”.

The affected dates are two of the four shows set for the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, which were scheduled as part of their 2025 comeback tour.

According to a new announcement on Instagram, tonight’s show (Monday December 1) and tomorrow’s planned gig (Tuesday December 2) have been postponed at the last minute due to the frontman contracting a throat infection.

They will now be taking place at the same venue on Monday December 15 and Tuesday December 16, respectively. Tickets for the shows will be automatically transferred to the new dates, and fans are encouraged to contact their point of purchase if they require a refund.

The latter two shows of the four dates planned for Copenhagen (December 4 and 5) are still set to go ahead as planned, as are all four gigs at the Uber Arena in Berlin, which will close out the tour later this month.

“Radiohead are gutted to have to announce the postponement of the first two Copenhagen dates this week – tonight, Dec 1st and tomorrow, Dec 2nd,” their announcement read.

“We are devastated to have to postpone these two shows at such short notice but Thom has been diagnosed with an extreme throat infection which has made it impossible for him to sing,” they added.

“Treatment is underway and we’re hopeful Thom will recover in time to play the final two Copenhagen shows on Dec 4th and 5th, and all four Berlin shows, starting on Dec 8th.”

“We have been so blown away by the audience reactions on these dates and are loving being back on stage again; needless to say, we feel terrible that we have been forced to postpone these shows.”

The news of the illness comes as the legendary rock band recently completed four sold-out nights at The O2 in London, and set a new record for fan attendance – surpassing that of Metallica, who have held the title since 2017.

At those London gigs, it was confirmed that £1 from all ticket sales would be donated to the LIVE Trust – supporting artists, venues, promoters, festivals and more across grassroots spaces in the country. There were also charity volunteers on site to help collect donations for the mental health charity Samaritans.

For all of the shows across Europe, 1€ from every ticket sold is being donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) – a humanitarian organisation provides emergency medical assistance to those living in countries affected by war, natural disasters, epidemics and more. The amount of money for Médecins Sans Frontières raised by the ticket sales will be matched and donated to the charity by Radiohead.

Their first show at the O2 was given a five-star review from NME, with Andrew Trendell writing: “What a show: a visceral energy, a tasteful spectacle, all delivered with a generosity of spirit, Yorke in full rockstar mode as the band trade places to tend to each corner of the venue.

“For a band once embarrassed by the notion of ‘arena rock’, nobody does it better. A new album and another night like this can’t come soon enough.”
