Ray-J says he’s in his “last days”: “My heart is only beating, like, 25 per cent”

Ray-J has claimed to fans that he is in his “last days” due to an issue with his heart, which is only beating at around “25 per cent”.

The artists shared the update during a recent Instagram Live video, explaining that a history of substance abuse has had a devastating toll on his health, and that he is unlikely to see past 2027.

“2027, it’s definitely a wrap for me. That’s what the doctor said,” he told fans over the weekend, also adding that he was grateful for those who sent him best wishes while he was recently hospitalised for pneumonia.

“I want to thank everybody for praying for me. I was in a hospital. My heart’s only beating like 25 per cent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said.

He also claimed that he was told that his heart is “black” on the right side, and his past struggles with alcohol and substance abuse was the equivalent of 10 doses of Adderall and roughly four bottles of alcohol each day.

“[I thought] I can handle all the alcohol, I can handle all the Adderall, the drugs, I can handle everything – but I couldn’t. It curved my time. I fucked my shit up real bad,” he continued, adding that he was getting support from his sister, fellow music artist Brandy.

“Shout out to Brandy for looking out for me. She paid my bills for me for the rest of the year,” he said, sharing that he was “going to Haiti” because doctors there might have some treatment that can better help him.

Later in his Instagram livestream, Ray-J explained that he was sad to not be spending more time with his children in his last days due to ongoing legal issues with his wife, Princess Love.

At the end of November, the 44-year-old singer and actor was arrested when the Los Angeles Police Department received a call claiming that there was a domestic dispute taking place at his house.

He was booked at the LAPD’s Van Nuys Station, according to a report from ABC, and his bail was set at $50,000 (£37,800). Rolling Stone reported that a restraining order blocking him from contacting his wife has been issued since then.

“I love my baby mama more than anything, anything. She don’t know how drastic the time is that I got, but she is life,” Ray-J said on the livestream. “If I could drive over to where my baby mama is with my kids right now and just spend time with them for the next two or three months, I would do that. But I got a criminal protective order where I can’t see them.”

Ray-J is best recognised for his song with Lil’ Kim, ‘Wait A Minute’, as well as singles including 2005’s ‘One Wish’, and the 2008 track ‘Sexy Can I’.

Back in 2022, he defended the decision to get a tattoo of his sister’s face on his leg. “It’s my leg, it’s my sister,” he said. “I love my sister and that was just a symbol of me saying thank you… If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be here. I’m humbled just to have her help me.”
