Razorlight play intimate London show telling stories behind the hits

Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell and Andy Burrows treated a select group of fans to a surprise, intimate acoustic performance at Stereo in Covent Garden, central London. Hollywood star and Gavin & Stacey creator James Corden was among the audience as the duo performed stripped-back renditions of classic tracks and shared the origins of their biggest hits.

Check out our exclusive footage of the first acoustic track Golden Touch:

The special event followed the band’s release of “Lost In America,” the original demo version of their chart-topping single “America.” The release coincides with the 20th anniversary of their pivotal self-titled second album, Razorlight. During the performance, Borrell and Burrows—who reconciled in 2021 following a decade-long estrangement—recounted how “America” originally took inspiration from the drum rhythm of Billy Joel’s “Moving Out.”

Borrell revealed that the track was initially pitched to other artists, including a publisher in Nashville, before he paired the song with a guitar riff he had written as a teenager on a camping holiday. Beyond their signature anthem, the setlist featured intimate acoustic performances of “Golden Touch,” “In The Morning,” “Stumble and Fall,” “Who Needs Love,” and “Before I Fall To Pieces,” along with playful snippets of Extreme’s “More Than Words” and Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.”

Reflecting on their early career, Borrell noted how natural songcraft came to them in their twenties, celebrating the instinctual creativity that defined the band’s rise. The duo’s reunion sets the stage for an extensive 20th-anniversary tour celebrating the self-titled record.

The global tour will feature the classic four-piece lineup—Johnny Borrell, Andy Burrows, Björn Ågren, and Carl Dalemo—performing the landmark album in full. Following international dates across New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and Scandinavia throughout October and November, the tour moves to the UK and Ireland. UK highlights include performances at Glasgow’s O2 Academy, Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse, and a massive headline show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on 4 December 2026, before concluding in Belfast and Dublin.
