SYDNEY, Australia — There’s a new specialist law firm serving Australasia’s music, media and arts industries — Hewitt Glass Law.

Based in central Sydney, the new business is led by managing partners Rob Glass and Julian Hewitt, which forms following the closure of David Vodicka‘s prominent law firm Media Arts Lawyers, where both were partners (Vodicka, one of Australia’s preeminent music lawyers, launches the new firm David Vodicka Music & Entertainment Lawyers).

At launch, Billboard can exclusively reveal, Hewitt Glass Law’s clients include Angus and Julia Stone, The Avalanches, Courtney Barnett, CYRIL, DMA’S, Dom Dolla, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Future Classic, NLV Records, RUFUS DU SOL, Tones And I and The Veronicas.

“We’re really excited for this new chapter – we’ve got a whip smart, dynamic team in Sydney, and work with great clients,” Glass and Hewitt comment in a statement. “The reason we got into this area of law was passion – for music but also as enthusiastic students of the history of the entertainment business and the culture.”

Between them, Glass and Hewitt have handled more than $300 million in commercial transactions in the last three years, reps say, and both have been recognized by Billboard among the world’s Top Music Lawyers.

“We’re very optimistic about what lies ahead as the business dramatically shifts, and the ways we can help put our clients in the position to reap the rewards of their talent, risk-taking and culture-building,” the message continues. “These are the moments where the most interesting opportunities present themselves.”

Core services offered by Hewitt Glass Law include music (from recording to publishing, touring, catalog transactions and more), entertainment (film, TV and content production, and more), plus M&A and corporate.

Hewitt Glass opened for business July 1, 2026, operating from Suite 5B, Level 1, 2-12 Foveaux Street in Surry Hills.

“Artists, creators and rights holders are thinking more strategically about ownership, growth and long-term value creation than ever before,” notes Hewitt. “Our goal is to help clients navigate that environment with advice that combines deep entertainment industry knowledge with strong commercial and corporate expertise.”

Adds Glass, “Australian artists and entertainment businesses are achieving success on a scale that would have been difficult to imagine even a decade ago. As those careers and businesses become more sophisticated, the legal and commercial challenges become more complex as well. We created Hewitt Glass to provide specialist advice that reflects the global entertainment market.”
