Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2026: Oasis, Mariah Carey, New Order, Joy Division, Sade among nominees

The nominations for the 2026 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced – see the full list below.

A total of 17 new names have been proposed for the latest round of inductions, which will take place in the autumn. From the 17 candidates, a panel of more than 1200 artists, historians and industry professionals will choose the successful names and that announcement will be made in April.

Oasis make the shortlist for the third consecutive year, while Joy Division and New Order, who are listed together as one candidate, are also up for a third time, having been nominated in 2023 and 2025. Other repeat nominees are Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Sade and The Black Crowes.

In terms of first-time nominees, Lauryn Hill and Jeff Buckley have both made the shortlist, as have the Wu-Tang Clan, Pink, INXS, Phil Collins, Luther Vandross, Shakira, New Edition and Melissa Etheridge.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after their first commercial recording was released, although it is only Pink that gets onto the list on the first time of asking this year. Collins, meanwhile, has already been inducted as a member of Genesis and if he were to be successful this year, he would become the 29th artist to be inducted into the Rock Hall multiple times.

Fans can also vote for their favourites online, with their top five choices being counted as one vote from the “fans ballot”. Cast your vote here.

The candidates for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026:

Billy Idol
The Black Crowes
INXS
Iron Maiden
Jeff Buckley
Joy Division/New Order
Lauryn Hill
Luther Vandross
Mariah Carey
Melissa Etheridge
New Edition
Oasis
Phil Collins
Pink
Sade
Shakira
Wu-Tang Clan

Last year, the new inductees were The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, Bad Company, Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker, while Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon were inducted under the ‘Musical Influence’ category.

Oasis being nominated for the third consecutive year might not please frontman Liam Gallagher, who reacted to their 2024 nomination by writing: “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS”. He also discouraged fans from voting for them, calling it “a load of bollox”.

He reiterated his sentiments last year, saying the Hall is “for WANKERS”, although he replied to one fan asking what would happen if they got in by saying: “Obv go and say it’s the best thing EVER”.

Peter Hook also spoke to NME last year about last not making the cut, suggesting that the current rift between himself and his former bandmates is the reason for their snub. “You’re in a weird situation here, because the camps don’t have any communication and actively don’t like each other,” he said. “When it comes to working on these things, you have to let your fans know that they can vote you in. That’s how it’s done – it’s not given to you. You have to be nominated and voted for.

“If you check our campaign last time and compare it to the campaign this time, you can see there’s been – shall we say – a lack of enthusiasm on one side for the whole thing. Obviously they’re making enough money pretending to be New Order so they don’t have to worry about it. So that’s cool, isn’t it?”

At last year’s ceremony, Jack White honoured his “sister” Meg in a speech that she later said she helped to edit.
