Rod Wave remains in jail after being arrested by the Atlanta Police Department on four charges on Friday.

The rapper, whose real name is Rodarius Green faces charges included possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, reckless driving, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, reports the New York Post.

Waves’ lawyer, Drew Findling, told TMZ that Wave had already appeared in court and had been granted $8,000 (£6000) bail.

The Heart on Ice rapper has had numerous run-ins with police in recent years.

In September 2021, he was arrested on a single battery charge; and again in Florida in 2022 on an outstanding strangulation charge.

In May 2025, he was arrested on 14 charges, including aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a felony, criminal damage to property, pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another person, simple assault and more.

Rod Wave’s legal team denied that he committed any wrongdoing at the time and argued that the rapper was actually the victim in the case.

One month later, the hip-hop artist was booked once more by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on another single charge of battery.

Meanwhile, Wave scored his first Grammy nomination on the same day that he was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department on Friday.

He was nominated in the Best Song Written for the Visual Media category for Sinners, the title track from the vampire film of the same name starring Michael B Jordan.
