Sabrina Carpenter Meets Her ‘Idol’ Miss Piggy in First Official Trailer for Disney+ ‘The Muppet Show’ Reboot

The old gang is up to their old gags in the first official trailer for the Disney+ reboot of the beloved series The Muppet Show. Miss Piggy is, of course, making it all about herself, Kermit is front-and-center keeping things moving and Gonzo is, naturally, taking his furry life in his hands with his latest dangerous stunt.

Most importantly, though, Sabrina Carpenter‘s lovefest with Piggy is on full display in the first official trailer for the Disney+ reboot, a 90-second sneak peek that dropped on Friday morning (Jan. 23). “It’s you! You’re my idol,” gushes Carpenter as she greets the ever-so-humble Miss Piggy backstage. “You’re sweet… go on,” Piggy says with mock humility.

“I grew up watching you, my parents grew up watching you… their parents grew up watching you,” Carpenter gushes as Piggy — who could be around 52-years-old, but considers herself ageless —  violently pulls away and yelps, “OKAY!”

The special event that will also feature guest star Maya Rudolph and executive producer Seth Rogen, will premiere on Feb. 4 on Disney+ at 3 a.m. ET and ABC at 9 p.m. ET. A release announcing the show promises that, “music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!”

The preview opens with Kermit walking by a wall of fame of Muppet Show guests from the past, including Harry Belafonte, Steve Martin and Lady Gaga and joking, “we are so glad to be back where it all started, and then ended and then is maybe starting again… depending on how tonight goes.”

We see glimpses of diva Piggy swanning around promising to “give the people what they truly want… moi,” while Animal whales on the drums along to the show’s iconic, horn-forward theme song. Superfan Rogen admits to Fozzy that it’s always been his dream to take the Muppets stage, with the sweet-natured bear wondering, “got any other dreams?”

After Beaker zaps himself in the lab during an experiment gone awry, Kermit apologizes to Carpenter and admits, “we’re still working out a few kinks.” The singer whose Short n’ Sweet tour tour was famous for rolling out nightly kinky “Juno” sex positions, responds with a saucy, “that’s all right, I love a kink,” the kind of wink-wink double-entendre nod to adults the variety show is famous for.

The original Muppet Show debuted in 1976 and ran through 1981.
