Sabrina Carpenter was worried about appearing “conceited” for having her own music on her Spotify Wrapped list.
The singer’s track Espresso was recently named the most-streamed song of 2024 on the digital music service with 1.6 billion streams around the world. In a new interview with Vogue, Sabrina admitted she appeared in her own list of top five most-listened to artists this year.
“It’s funny because when I first saw mine, my initial reaction was, ‘Oh, damn, I can’t post that, because I’m on my own (list). It’s a bit conceited,'” she recalled when asked how it felt to feature in so many people’s Spotify Wrapped lists. “But then I was like, I guess it’s a good thing that I’m on my list and listening to my own music, because it means I f**k with what I do.”
Sabrina revealed the other artists to feature in her top five were Dolly Parton, the Bee Gees, ABBA and Kacey Musgraves.
Elsewhere in the interview, the 25-year also star also discussed making her own festive variety show for Netflix, titled A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.
Sabrina has “always” wanted to star in a Christmas special, but admitted the time frame to make the show was quite demanding.
“There was just no time (to make it); I feel like I blacked out, and we shot it. I don’t know what happened,” she laughed. “We actually shot it in two days, so it was kind of a s**t show – but in the best possible way…
“You can’t really be mad when everyone is dressed like Christmas.”
The show featured cameo appearances from stars including Shania Twain and Chappell Roan, and Sabrina has revealed performing alongside some of her favourite artists made the experience “all the more fun”.
“It’s been such a beautiful gift to be able to celebrate everything that all of these amazing women have done this year,” she explained. “So it was a perfect opportunity to be able to bring some of them together.”
She added, “And Shania f**king Twain! I’ve looked up to her my whole life. I was so lucky that they volunteered their time. There was a lot of giggles on set.”
