Sam Fender and Olivia Dean match historic chart records as Rein Me In returns to Number One

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean match historic chart records as Rein Me In returns to Number One

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have cemented their place in British music history as their collaborative hit single, “Rein Me In,” secures its 14th non-consecutive week at the summit of the Official Singles Chart. Rebounding three places to reclaim the top spot, the track now ties with legendary classics like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” for total weeks spent at number one. If the single holds its position for a 15th week, it will match Wet Wet Wet’s iconic cover of “Love Is All Around” as the British single with the absolute most weeks at number one in chart history.

The rest of the singles chart saw plenty of movement, heavily driven by massive live performances and international sports. As his record-breaking residency at London’s Wembley Stadium continues to draw massive crowds, Harry Styles saw three tracks occupy the Top 40. His single “American Girls” jumped four spots back into the Top 10 at number eight, alongside steady climbs for his debut solo hit “Sign of the Times” at number 19 and “Aperture” at number 27. Breakout Alabama country star Ella Langley also celebrated a major milestone, banking her first-ever UK Top 10 single as “Choosin’ Texas” climbed five places to reach a new peak at number nine.

Meanwhile, the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 has caused a massive shakeup on the airwaves. Shakira and Burna Boy’s official tournament anthem, “Dai Dai,” surged nine spots to break into the Top 20 at number 19. The achievement officially makes it the highest-charting official World Cup song of all time in the UK, outperforming Shakira’s own 2010 classic “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which originally peaked at number 21. It also marks her highest-charting UK single since her 2014 collaboration with Rihanna, “Can’t Remember To Forget You.”

Football fever also brought legacy tracks back into fashion. Following an emotional moment where England players and fans sang together after their World Cup match against Croatia, Oasis’s timeless anthem “Wonderwall” experienced a massive surge in popularity, lifting back into the Top 40 at number 33.
