Sam Fender scraps premium front-standing tickets and announces reduced prices for 2027 stadium tour

Sam Fender has confirmed that premium front-standing tickets have been scrapped for his 2027 UK stadium tour, and announced revised prices after criticism from fans.

The singer-songwriter previously expressed his frustration with the “inflated” ticket prices for his upcoming ‘Proper Massive Stadium Tour’, and criticised plans to divide standing areas into more expensive front sections and general admission.

Now, in an Instagram Story shared yesterday evening (October 24), Fender has confirmed that the proposed system has been abandoned, and outlined new ticket prices for the shows.

“I’ve managed to get Front Standing tickets removed from the UK stadium tour,” he wrote. “Whoever buys a standing ticket gets as much chance as anyone to be at the front. No more 120 quid standing tickets either.”

He continued: “Costs are astronomical compared to two years ago, I can’t control the venue and ticketing fees, that’s a sad reality of today’s industry.”

“This is gonna be the biggest and best show we’ve ever put on. Can’t wait to see everyone on the road next summer!”

Fender confirmed that general admission standing tickets will now be priced at £85, while seats will be available at £95, £75 and £55, before venue and ticketing fees.

The prices also exclude a £1 contribution per ticket to the LIVE Trust, which supports grassroots music across the UK.

The announcement follows complaints from fans after purported ticket prices for the upcoming tour were shared on social media earlier this week.

The original figures suggested that front-standing tickets at London’s Wembley Stadium would cost £130.75, compared to £98.85 for general standing. Similar premium standing sections were also reportedly planned for Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Responding to the figures on Instagram on Friday (October 23), Fender promised that the prices would be changed.

“I’m not happy with these prices, they’re getting changed,” he wrote. “It got inflated well more than I’d had in mind, it should only be inflated in relation to the cost of putting the show on.”

He also said he had been unaware of the plans to separate standing areas, adding: “I have no idea how this was normalised in gigs. It’s bollocks and it won’t be happening on this tour.”

The move continues Fender’s support for making live music more accessible and protecting grassroots venues. Last year, funds raised through a £1 levy on his arena tour helped support 38 grassroots venues across the UK.

“It’s brilliant to see that the money raised from the arena tour is making a real difference to so many venues,” he said at the time.

Fender was also among the artists who called on the UK government to uphold its pledge to cap secondary ticket prices last November, alongside Radiohead, Dua Lipa and Coldplay.

The ‘Proper Massive Stadium Tour’ will begin with two homecoming shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park in June, before visiting Cardiff, London, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester. Support at the UK stadium dates comes from Wunderhorse.

Tickets go on general sale at 9:30am on Friday (October 30) – buy yours here.

A pre-sale begins at the same time on Wednesday (October 28), with fans able to gain access by pre-ordering Fender’s forthcoming fourth album here before 9am GMT tomorrow (October 26).

Elsewhere, Fender won the Mercury Prize last year for his third album ‘People Watching’, and donated the £25,000 prize money to the Music Venue Trust.

This year, he has won Songwriter Of The Year at the Ivor Novellos and Song Of The Year at the BRIT Awards, while his collaboration with Olivia Dean, ‘Rein Me In’, became the longest-running UK Number One single of all time.

Details of Fender’s fourth album, including its title and release date, are yet to be announced.
