Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has slammed a new Netflix docuseries on his life and legal troubles, which is executive produced by his longtime rival 50 Cent.

The incarcerated music mogul claims footage in the docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning was stolen.

The former hip-hop star, who is serving a four-year sentence for prostitution-related charges, blasted the documentary as a “shameful hit piece”.

The four-part series, which is set to debut on Netflix on 2 December, claims to offer a “staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend and convicted offender”, including never-before-seen footage of Combs and his inner circle.

A teaser includes a clip of Combs from 10 September 2024, as the heat from his federal sex crimes case was rising.

“We’re losing,” he says in a hotel room, mobile phone in hand, before he calls for “somebody that’ll work with us that has dealt in the dirtiest of dirty business”.

Through a spokesperson, Combs has claimed that footage, including “private moments, pre-indictment material from an unfinished project and conversations involving legal strategy”, was obtained unlawfully.

“Today’s teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorised for release,” the statement reads.

“As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work.

“None of this was obtained from Sean Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises very serious questions about how this material was accessed and why Netflix chose to use it,” the statement added.

The response came hours after 50 Cent touted the series on Good Morning America, along with its director, Alexandria Stapleton.

They did not discuss how they obtained the footage, although Stapleton assured the Hollywood Reporter that “the footage was obtained completely legally”.
