Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s representative has denied a report alleging the disgraced music mogul had been caught with homemade alcohol in prison.
Last week, editors at TMZ claimed the I’ll Be Missing You rapper had been found with an alcoholic fermented substance made of soda, sugar, and apples at the Fort Dix prison in New Jersey, where he has been jailed.
Sources also told the outlet that prison officials were considering moving Combs to another unit, but they have ultimately allowed him to stay put.
But following the report, Combs’s spokesperson issued a statement to People on Sunday in which they insisted the 56-year-old hadn’t broken any rules.
“There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs,” they commented. “He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”
The rep went on to request that people stop spreading rumours about Combs.
“This is only his first week at FCI Fort Dix, and unfortunately, rumours will surface throughout his time there,” they added. “We ask the public and the press to give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth, and the grace to move forward in peace.”
In addition, a statement posted on Combs’s X account on Saturday shared a similar sentiment.
“The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false. His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family,” a spokesperson noted.
In July, Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Three months later, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison, which equals four years and two months.
Combs has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024.
