Two legends team up for the Faces classic at co-headlining show
Billy Joel’s Garden residency might be over, but the Piano Man remains touring, scheduling co-headlining stadium gigs with the likes of Sting, Stevie Nicks, and Rod Stewart, who shared the bill with Joel Friday night in Cleveland.
As with the previous shows with Sting and Nicks, there was some crossover between the two sets, with Stewart appearing onstage to perform the Faces’ “Stay With Me” with Joel and his band.
Joel had previously performed the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and his own “Big Man on Mulberry Street” with Sting at those two singers’ co-headlining gig, while Joel and Nicks collaborated on “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and “And So It Goes” during their respective sets.
The Cleveland concert marked Joel’s first show in over a month, and only his second concert since he bid goodbye to his long-running Madison Square Garden residency in July, a performance highlighted by a guest appearance by Axl Rose.
Joel will finish up his 2024 touring duties with a show later this month in St. Louis — the first of three more co-headlining shows with Sting this year — followed by a solo performance at Los Angeles’ new Intuit Dome on October 12.
