Shaboozey discovered he featured on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter when he saw tracklisting

Shaboozey didn’t know he made the final cut of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter until he saw the tracklisting online.

In an interview for Rolling Stone published on Monday, the A Bar Song (Tipsy) hitmaker recalled how excited he was when the music superstar invited him to contribute to the songs Spaghettii and Sweet Honey Buckiin’ for her 2024 album.

However, Shaboozey – real name Collins Chibueze – revealed that he didn’t find out whether his verses made the hit album until much later.

“I recorded two of those verses, and when it came out, (Beyoncé) didn’t change a single thing, not an ad lib, nothing,” he smiled to the outlet.

Accordingly, Beyoncé’s seal of approval meant the world to the rising artist.

“She allowed me to just be me on that project. It really was motivating: ‘Yo, Beyoncé cosigned me!’ She gave me this push and was like, ‘Run!’ And I was running as fast as I could,” the 31-year-old continued.

Elsewhere in the chat, Shaboozey promoted his upcoming fourth studio album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales.

Reflecting on the concept project, the Good News star explained that he was inspired by Quentin Tarantino films with female-led casts.

“It was always my dream to put all the things I love about movies and music and stories into one cohesive body of work that I felt like people in today’s current music landscape aren’t really doing. The Outlaw Cherie Lee came from my love for strong female protagonists. Quentin Tarantino is one of my favourite directors. He did (2003’s) Kill Bill with Uma Thurman, (1997’s) Jackie Brown with Pam Grier,” he added.

The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales is set to drop on 31 July.
