Shakira has announced she has been forced to cancel a tour date after being hospitalised.
The 48-year-old music superstar is currently on the road with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and was due to perform in Lima, Peru, on Sunday night.
But the star was forced to abandon plans after being rushed to hospital with an urgent health issue that required emergency treatment.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Sunday, the Hips Don’t Lie singer wrote, “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised. The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.
“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.”
The singer went on to promise that she would return to perform to those that had been left disappointed by the cancellation.
She wrote, “My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you. Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all.”
Shakira is due to head to her native Colombia on Thursday to perform in Barranquilla – while her tour is expected to continue until 30 June where she will end her string of concerts in San Francisco.
