Shawn Mendes has postponed his upcoming self-titled album.
The 26-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday evening to tell fans that he will be delaying his upcoming fifth studio album.
The album, titled Shawn, was originally due to be released on 18 October but will now arrive on 15 November.
“My team and I have decided to push the album release date to November 15,” Mendes wrote on his Instagram Stories. “We just need a little bit more time to bring some new inspirations and ideas to life.”
The Stitches hitmaker continued, “I love you guys, thank you for being so patient. I can’t wait to see you guys at the next few shows.”
Mendes announced the album on 31 July and has since released singles including Why Why Why, Nobody Knows and Isn’t That Enough.
In a separate post, Mendes thrilled fans when he announced that he will be releasing a concert film, titled For Friends and Family Only, the day before his new album is released.
“This was my first time performing the album and my first show back in 2 years,” he wrote alongside a clip from the upcoming film. “It was really beautiful. I really wanted you all to be able to experience it.”
In the video, Mendes could be heard telling the audience, “I was feeling just, like, really weirdly calm for the last four hours. And I was like, ‘What is going on?’ Oh man, this is just so beautiful. Thank you guys for being here.”
According to the official synopsis, the concert movie was filmed at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York, and will provide fans with “personal stories” from the artist and an “intimate look at the creative journey that shaped” his music.
For Friends and Family Only will premiere in select theatres for one night only on 14 November.
