Snoop Dogg has opened up about Drake’s recent court filings against Universal Music Group.
The rapper admitted he would have opted to resolve a feud “in the streets” after he became caught in the middle of an ongoing disagreement between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Drake, 38, recently filed lawsuits against Universal Music Group, including one that alleged the record company knowingly published 37-year-old Kendrick’s track Not Like Us despite the fact the track alleges Drake is a “pedophile”.
Having previously supported Kendrick, Snoop, 53, inadvertently found himself involved after sharing a social post that featured Drake’s new song, Taylor Made Freestyle.
“I did a collaborative post with someone. When I do, I don’t listen to the music, I just see ‘Gin and Juice’, ’cause it’s my brand. So, when I post it, I’m thinking I posted ‘Gin and Juice’, I don’t know what song it is, I’m not hip to everybody’s music. Then I get the word, ‘Nephew didn’t like what you did’.”
Asked for his thoughts on the beef, Snoop said simply, “On the West, we hold court in the streets. That’s just what we call it.”
He added that once he learned of his gaffe, he immediately deleted the post and left an apologetic voicemail for Kendrick.
“Nephew, it’s Uncle Snoop,” he quoted himself as saying. “I got your message and I apologise. I was f**ked up. My bad.”
