Sturgill Simpson Lines Up Johnny Blue Skies Tour

Sturgill Simpson has set a tour of North America under his Johnny Blue Skies alias. Backed by his band the Dark Clouds, the singer-songwriter will embark on dates behind Mutiny After Midnight this fall and summer, starting in Austin, Texas, in early September and wrapping in Lexington, Kentucky, on Halloween. Check out the full Mutiny for the Masses Tour itinerary—which will feature no openers—below.

As Mutiny After Midnight rides high at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, exclusively from physical sales, Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds are preparing to release a pair of covers on 7″ vinyl for Record Store Day. Their takes on Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale” and William Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water” are due April 18.

The original Sturgill Simpson is also set to appear in The Lonely Woman, a movie from Boy Harsher, now in post-production, that co-stars fellow actor-musicians FKA Twigs and Bonnie “Prince” Billy.
