Suki Waterhouse enjoying creative freedom after leaving modelling

Suki Waterhouse has revealed she gained a sense of creative freedom after transitioning from modelling to music.

The British star has opened up about how her life changed after moving from her original career as a model to becoming a singer.

In a recent interview with Variety, Suki explained that the new chapter of her career has given her freedoms she did not previously have, adding that “it’s the first time that I’m actually really the boss”.

The Supersad hitmaker, 34, admitted she had to unlearn many of the habits she picked up while working in the modelling industry.

“It takes a long time to get to a place where you have a bit more of a voice – especially in that industry,” she said. “Being a young woman is f**king brutal. And then when you get older, you realise that no one really has any idea what they’re doing.”

Suki went on to credit the women she surrounds herself with, including her American Daisy Jones & The Six co-stars Camila Morrone and Riley Keough, for encouraging her to use her voice.

“In contrast to my own Britishness, (they) have taught me that it’s kind of great to be a little bit difficult,” she told the publication. “It’s actually just because you f**king care. Whenever anyone tells me that somebody’s difficult, I’m like, ‘Oh, I like them. Obviously.'”

Elsewhere in the interview, Suki shared that while she plans to prioritise her music career, she has not ruled out returning to acting in the future.

“The desire is still there completely,” she stated. “It’s really a thing of managing when. Because tours get booked up, and then trying to manage having a family at the same time.”

Suki, who has a two-year-old daughter with her longtime partner Robert Pattinson, released her first single in 2016. She is now gearing up to release her third album, Loveland, on 10 July.
