Taylor Swift Gives Jessie Her Flowers on Heartfelt ‘Toy Story 5’ Song

Taylor Swift Gives Jessie Her Flowers on Heartfelt ‘Toy Story 5’ Song

Jessie gets her flowers in Taylor Swift‘s Toy Story 5 song “I Knew It, I Knew You.” The track pulls inspiration from the Pixar series’ beloved character, who is featured on the art for the track, and marks a return to Swift’s country roots.

On the blissful song, Swift sings the catchy chorus, “I saw you, standing there in the light of the window/Wearing that same smile/Man, it’s been a while.” The star reunited with her longtime collaborator and friend Jack Antonoff to co-produce and co-write “I Knew It, I Knew You” (the duo last worked together on 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department).

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post alongside a video of herself as little girl wearing a cowgirl hat and boots. The singer said being a Toy Story fan since she was five-years-old “is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

Swift recorded three versions of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” with the acoustic and piano editions available exclusively on CD via her website. In her post, Swift also expressed gratitude for her collaborators: “Thank you to the brilliant Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film. Thank you to the incomparable [Randy Newman] for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you’ve meticulously woven over the years. You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.”

She added, “By we, I mean myself and my pal [Jack Antonoff]. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods.”

Trending Stories

Rumors of Swift’s involvement with the fifth movie in the Toy Story series began back in late April, when her website briefly featured a countdown and transformed from her Showgirl aesthetic to Toy Story‘s iconic cloud wallpaper. While the countdown didn’t lead anywhere, Toy Story-themed billboards with a massive “TS” suddenly appeared on May 29. Pixar and Disney later shared videos of the placard to their Instagram accounts with Jessie dancing on the catwalk (plus a caption that referenced Swift’s “Shake It Off”).

Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, in 2025 via Republic Records. Toy Story 5 will hit theaters on June 19; that day will also mark the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw.“
