Suki Waterhouse wasn’t sure if Taylor Swift was being serious when she suggested giving her an opening spot on The Eras Tour.
The actress and singer took to the stage at London’s Wembley Stadium before Paramore and Taylor earlier this month during one of the music superstar’s eight shows at the iconic venue.
Reflecting on the huge moment, Suki revealed to The Times that Taylor discussed the idea at dinner the year before.
“Taylor did mention (the idea of) that at dinner a year ago,” she shared. “I didn’t know if it was real. But that’s the thing about her: I should have known, she always plans. When she says something, she’s gonna do it.”
Around the time the pop star’s team confirmed the slot in April, Suki’s dad “kept saying: ‘Guess it’s not happening then… shame about that.’ I was like: ‘No, Dad, I promise, you are coming to Wembley!'”
The Daisy Jones & The Six star reached out to Chemena Kamali, the new creative director at Chloé, to make a dress for the special occasion. However, due to human error, someone forgot to collect the garment before her performance and the shop was closed that day.
“So one of my managers gave a porter £500 to break in and grab the dress. I think there were literally 140 calls,” she shared, confessing that she was “stressing” as the gown didn’t arrive until 100 minutes before her set.
Suki, 32, explained that she met the Blank Space singer, 34, in New York around 10 years ago when she was there shooting a film.
“It was one of the great summers. A bunch of people were in town, all these girls were hanging out. I remember being on her rooftop and having a really great time. And I have some memory of me, like, talking to – oh, I probably shouldn’t say!” she stated.
