McCartney released his latest album ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane‘ last Friday (May 29) – the twentieth solo album by the Liverpudlian.

The album was critically acclaimed when it landed, with NME giving the record a four-star review: “While it’s tethered to the past, what’s most impressive about ‘Dungeon Lane’ is how fresh it sounds”.

Now, Taylor Swift has joined in with her own admiration for the album. Sharing McCartney’s post about the album on Instagram stories, she wrote: “Never not inspired by this eternally exceptional artist.”

McCartney recently sat down with NME, where he discussed his recent collaborations with fellow icons The Rolling Stones. McCartney appeared on their latest album ‘Hackney Diamonds‘, and is set to appear on their upcoming record ‘Foreign Tongues‘ alongside Robert Smith and more.

“It was really exciting because I normally don’t play as a session guy,” McCartney told us. “It was really nice to just show up at a studio with your bass and just say, ‘Right, where do you want me? Where do I plug in?’ You start playing, and they show you the song, and I start thinking, ‘I’m playing with the Stones!’ And I’m well chuffed! You could be a bit blasé and go, ‘Yeah, OK, so what?’ But for me, it wasn’t – it went the other way. It was like, ‘Wow, there’s Mick [Jagger]! Ooh, there’s Keith [Richards]! Woah, there’s Ronnie [Wood]!’

“I went home that day, and I’m saying to everyone, ‘I just played with The Stones!’,” he added. “I was glad I wasn’t blasé about it. It’s really exciting. Not everyone plays with The Stones!”

McCartney also recently announced a special live ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ London in conversation event, which will take place at Camden’s Roundhouse next week (June 10). Tickets for the event are on sale now – buy yours here.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has confirmed she has a new song that will appear in Toy Story 5.

Rumours of Swift’s involvement with the movie began to swirl when the pop star posted a cryptic countdown on her website with the movie’s colour scheme and trademark clouds. However, the countdown was removed before its completion on May 2.

Then, shortly after the film’s creators denied Swift’s involvement with the movie’s soundtrack, a cryptic billboard bearing the initials “TS” was unveiled against the film’s iconic blue sky and white cloud backdrop.

Swift went on to officially confirm her song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ will be in the upcoming movie. She wrote the song with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” Swift wrote. “I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”

Elsewhere, Paul McCartney has finally admitted that The Beatles were “the greatest band ever”.
