Taylor Swift quietly changes lyrics of two ‘Reputation’ songs, fuelling speculation about new music

Taylor Swift quietly changes lyrics of two ‘Reputation’ songs, fuelling speculation about new music

Taylor Swift has quietly changed the lyrics of two ‘Reputation’ tracks, fuelling speculation amongst fans that new music could be coming.

On Friday (December 12), Apple Music updated all of Swift’s music on the Dolby Atmos feature, shortly after which, fans noticed the tweaks to a handful of lines from the record’s hit songs.

On ‘I Did Something Bad’, the original lyric — “If he spends my change, then he had it coming” – is now changed to have Swift sing: “If he calls me a bitch, then he had it coming“.

As fans scoured for more changes, some Swifites discovered the more subtle switch-up on ‘Delicate’, where Swift now sings “Goddamn, never seen that colour blue” rather than “Oh damn, never seen that colour blue”.

“Delicate” and “I Did Something Bad” by Taylor Swift now have newly updated lyrics in their Dolby Atmos versions on Apple Music:

As yet, the pop star has provided no explanation for the changes, but Swifties are naturally convinced it’s an Easter egg for something involved ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ – one of two of her albums left in a series of re-records Swift had been rolling out before she reclaimed ownership of her full catalogue earlier this year.

In other news, Swift appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week and discussed everything her new docuseries, which earned a three-star review from NME. “There’s a great documentary to be made about The Eras Tour, but it’s probably an unofficial one exploring the unique sense of community it fostered among the singer’s fanbase,” it read.

“It’s like Woodstock without the drugs,” one commentator notes here, entirely without shade. For now, though, The End Of An Era is solid content for Swifties wanting to relive the tour’s huge collective dopamine hit.”

Elsewhere in her Colbert appearance, she touched on her friendship with Stevie Nicks, and also addressed the critics who complain about her over-exposure and want her to “just go away.”

“I think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity,” she told Colbert. “There are also corners that are like, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just go away so we can talk about how good you were?’ And I’m like, I don’t want to, you know?”

Notably, Swift has either released or re-released at least one album every year since 2019, and has often been accused of intentionally blocking other artists – including Charli XCX – from topping the charts.

Her rebuttal to her critics followed news that a coordinated online attack was launched to accuse Swift of having Nazi connections, which fans inadvertently may have helped gain momentum.
