Taylor Swift surprises fans by releasing Elizabeth Taylor music video

Taylor Swift has surprised her fans by unveiling a new music video for her track Elizabeth Taylor.

The pop superstar surprised fans on Tuesday with the release, which accompanies a track from her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl.

In a change from her usual style, Swift does not appear in the video. Instead, it functions as a curated tribute to the late Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor, featuring a montage of archival footage and film clips.

The video includes a supercut of scenes from Taylor’s most celebrated films, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Place in the Sun, Cleopatra and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

The release follows closely behind the video for Swift’s track Opalite, which was widely praised for its inventive narrative and star-studded cast, including Domhnall Gleeson, Graham Norton, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee and Lewis Capaldi.

The Elizabeth Taylor video is currently available exclusively on Spotify Premium and Apple Music, although it is expected to be released on YouTube in the near future.

Swift previously revealed that she had asked permission from Taylor’s estate before releasing the song, adding that she approached the actress’s family and estate “and they were lovely about it”.

The video ends with a list of films included in the promo, as well as thanks to House of Taylor & the Elizabeth Taylor Trust, the Todd family and the Wilding family.

The Lavender Haze hitmaker is known for directing her own music videos, including The Man, Anti-Hero and All Too Well: The Short Film, and currently holds the record for the most Video of the Year wins at the MTV Video Music Awards, with five.

The Elizabeth Taylor video release comes days after the pop superstar made her first public appearance of 2026 at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday. She won a whopping seven awards during the ceremony, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.
