After releasing a handful of singles, the Avalanches have finally announced they have a new album on the way. No Bad Memories arrives October 16 via Modular. The Australian group have also dropped yet another new song from it, “Can’t Get Over Losing You” featuring Portraits of Tracy, which comes with a wild animated music video by Jonathan Zawada. Check it out below.
“Tracy is a hilarious, brave and tender human being who we have become very close to over the years we’ve been making music together,” the band wrote in a statement. “Tracy’s production and mixing is insane but it’s her voice and songwriting that break our heart time after time, truly a generational talent! We feel very fortunate to make music together.”
In a press release, the Avalanches revealed that their new album is a deep dive into jingles, commercials, and the age of marketing. No Bad Memories spans a whopping 31 tracks and follows their 2020 full-length We Will Always Love You. While it’s been six years since that LP, that wait time has got nothing on the gap between their fabled debut, 2000’s Since I Left You, and their 2016 comeback record, Wildflower.
So far the Avalanches are keeping the rest of their No Bad Memories tracklist under wraps. In the meantime, you can revisit their other singles like “Blue Shadows” with Karen O, the Jamie xx collaboration “Every Single Weekend,” and “Together” with Jessy Lanza, Nikki Nair, and Prentiss.
