When’s the last time you’ve been logged off and outside, or at the very least online while also being aware of your surroundings? The internet has made our worlds feel smaller. We keep up with family and friends through apps instead of phone calls or visits. We use an app to deliver our food instead of going out to eat. We shop online instead of going to the store to see and feel the things we purchase before we buy them.
Get Off the Internet With The Cool Kids is looking to change that.
The duo has been shaping culture and rap music for nearly 20 years. Now, they’re ready to shed light on a new generation of cool kids doing just that. Join Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish as they head down to New York’s Lower East Side to highlight two spaces that have been building community through music, art, fashion, food and coffee.
First, they hit LAAMS, where cofounders Stevie Skytel and Scott Selvin gave the guys a tour of their three-story retail and creative space on Orchard Street. Chuck and Mikey then took a midday coffee break to check out Café Colmado a few blocks away where they enjoyed a game of dominoes with general manager Carla Holguin over some cortados while trying out one of the best bistec sandwiches you’ll ever try and a tres golpes in a burrito before heading back over to LAAMS for a nightcap for their album release party and Chuck’s birthday.
