‘The Indigenous Setlist’ Podcast Will Spotlight Thriving Native and Indigenous Music Scene

Native and Indigenous artists take center stage on Indigenous House and Little Bear Audio’s forthcoming podcast series, The Indigenous Setlist.

“The artists featured in Season One are scoring some of the most popular series streaming now, signing to major record labels, climbing the charts, and headlining some of the biggest music festivals around the country,” Indigenous House Founder Crystal Echo Hawk said in a statement. “These artists aren’t waiting for permission — they are pushing boundaries, blending their own personal stories and lived experiences with new and innovative sounds that are looking towards the future and reshaping the modern music landscape.”

The series kicks off on June 22 with duo the Halluci Nation, which represents the Six Nations of the Grand River (Mohawk) and Cayuga Nations. Weekly episodes will move The Indigenous Setlist forward with conversations featuring country reggae artist Maoli of the Native Hawaiian community, punk rock band Dead Pioneers of Pyramid Lake Paiute, alt-rock and soul artist Aysanabee of the Sandy Lake First Nation (Oji-Cree), and more.

“It’s always like, ‘Oh, there’s this explosion of talent in the native community,’” the Halluci Nation’s Ehren Thomas says in the trailer for the podcast and video series. “Like, no, there’s no explosion. It’s been here.” The Indigenous Setlist aims to dismantle even more preconceived notions about Native and Indigenous artists who are often overlooked despite their continued success.

“From folk to hip-hop, from well-known acts to emerging talent, the stories and sounds of these artists are vibrant and boundary-pushing, and I can’t wait for listeners to learn more about the motivations behind their music,” Little Bear Audio’s Ian Sorrentino said. “These artists are proof that contemporary Indigenous music belongs in every playlist, on every soundtrack, and on every stage, and we invite everyone to tune in and learn more about these unique sounds.”
