The Moldy Peaches announce one-off reunion show: “We’re giving our OG fans what they’ve been pleading for”

The Moldy Peaches have announced a one-off reunion show in New York for next summer. Find all the details below.

The NYC indie band, founded by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson in 1994, will take to the stage at Carnegie Hall on Friday June 26 for a special acoustic gig.

It’ll follow the group’s 2023 comeback dates, which included their first UK and European shows in 20 years, and two homecoming performances at Brooklyn Steel.

“We’re keeping it real at Carnegie Hall,” The Moldy Peaches said in a statement. “It’s been a long 30-year adventure from our first show busking at the Mt. Kisco carnival to this soon-to-be sold-out concert on one of the world’s most celebrated stages.

“With tears of joy in our eyes, and rainbow melodies in our hearts, we’re giving our OG fans what they’ve been pleading for: a quiet show in a place with comfortable seats.”

They continued: “We’re really grateful for those of you who’ve been with us since the beginning, and to the kids on TikTok for keeping our songs relevant. We’re happy to be back home in New York. We love you, peace.”

Support comes from fellow New York anti-folk artist Paleface, with the show scheduled to begin at 8pm.

Tickets go on general sale at 11am EST this Friday (November 14) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. Alternatively, fans can access an artist pre-sale at the same time tomorrow (Wednesday November 12) by using the password “MoodyPoodles”.

The Moldy Peaches’ self-titled sole studio album was released in 2001, following their 1996 EP ‘X-Ray Vision’. They released the singles ‘County Fair/Rainbows’ in 2002, ahead of some rarities compilations.

The band reunited in 2022 for their first shows together in 11 years, as part of premiere events for the documentary film Meet Me In The Bathroom. The project is an adaptation of Lizzy Goodman’s book about the early ’00s indie scene in New York City.

Green has released numerous solo albums since The Moldy Peaches’ first LP, the latest being 2022’s ‘That Fucking Feeling’. A tribute record to the artist, titled ‘Moping In Style’, arrived the following year, featuring covers by the likes of Father John Misty, Jenny Lewis, The Libertines and The Cribs.

Last month, Green announced a 20th anniversary reissue of his third album, ‘Gemstones’. He’ll embark on a European solo headline tour early next year.

Green has also worked in film, directing MDVL: 1,000 Years Of Dark Ages (2021), Adam Green’s Aladdin (2016) and more, and is known for his work as a visual artist.

Kimya Dawson has shared various solo albums too, and released music as part of Antsy Pants, The Bundles and other acts.

In 2022’s Meet Me In The Bathroom, Green recalled meeting The Strokes for the first time. Speaking to NME later, director Will Lovelace remembered: “The Strokes and The Moldy Peaches did hang out quite a lot in the early days, but I don’t think they were all hanging out. They all had their own versions of where they actually met each other and often it wasn’t in New York, often it was on tour in Japan or somewhere unexpected.”

NME featured The Moldy Peaches’ debut record as one of “10 key albums” from that era, calling it “a glorious, spunky delight” that “blended raw emotions, caustic wit and a decidedly DIY and lo-fi spirit”.
