The Wanted star Max George has revealed that he has been hospitalised after some tests revealed “issues” with his heart.
The ‘Glad You Came’ singer took to his Instagram account and shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed while giving a thumbs up. He explained that he was taken to the hospital yesterday (December 12) after “feeling really unwell” and had some tests done which showed that there were some issues with his heart.
“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100 per cent in the best place.”
He continued: “Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was. Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks..I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do! Let’s do this!”
His fellow The Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran took to the comments to share his support. “Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon,” he wrote.
Marvin Humes of JLS also shared his support by writing: “Sorry to hear you’re not well geezer..you’re strong and will fight through..big love mate,” with his JLS bandmate JB Gill also commenting: “Wishing you better soon”.
The Wanted – comprised of George, Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, and Tom Parker – rose to fame in early 2010. They are arguably known for their hit track ‘Glad You Came’ which peaked at Number One on the UK singles chart, Number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming their only top ten hit in the US.
In 2014, the band announced their hiatus and in 2022, they announced their return, only this time as a duo comprised of George and Kaneswaran.
In March 2022, The Wanted band member Tom Parker passed away at the age of 33 after battling brain cancer.
