“Pease don’t spill too much Mama Tea,” daughter Beyoncé joked on Instagram
Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, is unleashing a new memoir titled Matriarch. The book will be out on April 22, 2025, via One World.
According to the official synopsis of Matriarch, the memoir will chronicle Knowles’ youth as a “precocious, if unruly, little girl” from Galveston, Texas. Readers will be taken through her entire life, through “grief and tragedy, creative and romantic risks and turmoil, the nurturing of superstar offspring and of her own special gifts.” The story is further described as “a multigenerational family saga that carries within it the story of America—and the wisdom that women pass on to each other, mothers to daughters, across generations. ”
Knowles’ eldest daughter Beyoncé shared a loving message to her mother as she helped announce the memoir: “Mama, I couldn’t be prouder,” she wrote. “My love for you goes beyond what I can say. You put your heart into this book. I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are. To know you is to love you. But please don’t spill too much Mama Tea.”
Knowles’ “bonus daughter,” Kelly Rowland, also shared her support for Matriarch. “MA!!! I am so excited for you,” she wrote on her own Instagram post. “I can’t wait til everyone gets their hands on it! They will be inspired, they will connect, they will laugh, they will def shed some tears, and bond with you over the intimate details you have shared! I’m so proud of you!”
Beyond raising multiple talented musicians, Knowles’ claim to fame was designing early stage outfits for her eldest daughter’s group Destiny’s Child. She would later establish the fashion line House of Deréon. She is currently the vice chairwoman of Beyoncé’s haircare line Cecred, a nod to the matriarch’s past as a hairstylist.
