Tom Morello has cancelled further European dates after sharing that his 102-year-old mother Mary is back in hospital.
The Rage Against The Machine guitarist had been due to continue his current UK and European solo run this week, but has now confirmed that he is heading home to help look after his mother.
The announcement means Morello will no longer appear at Tons Of Rock Festival in Oslo tomorrow (June 26) or BBK Music Legends Festival in Bilbao on Saturday (June 27). Refunds for his rearranged headline London and Paris shows will also be available at point of purchase.
In a statement shared on Instagram tonight (June 25), Morello wrote: “Dear friends, fans and comrades, my dear mom, Mary Morello is back in the hospital and I’m headed home to help look after her. Rocking the UK & Europe with you all this summer has been incredible and I can’t wait to be back with you and continue this movement that we started. With much love, unity and power.”
Tons Of Rock has since confirmed that The Hellacopters will replace Morello at the Norwegian festival, while BBK Music Legends has announced that Beat – the project featuring Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai and Danny Carey – will extend their Saturday set to a full 120-minute performance.
The latest update comes after Morello previously postponed shows in London’s Electric Brixton and Paris’ Bataclan due to his mother’s ill health. Those shows had been originally rearranged for June 29 and 30, but refunds for both are now being made available following the latest update.
“I am sorry I had to miss a few shows due to my mom’s health,” he wrote last week. “The incredibly resilient, indefatigable Mary Morello at 102 is now feeling somewhat better and has ordered me back into the fray, charging me with rocking you and fighting fascism six strings at a time. I’m on my way and will perform at Pink Pop, and God willing, beyond.”
Morello did return to the stage for Pinkpop in the Netherlands last weekend, and continued with a date in Nijmegen and an appearance at Copenhell in Denmark before the latest cancellation.
Morello’s recent run included an appearance at Download Festival 2026, where he used his set to send a message to Tommy Robinson, displaying the words “FUCK TOMMY ROBINSON” on the back of his guitar.
The guitarist also recently teamed up with Serj Tankian and his Roman on a powerful new single titled ‘Adjourn It’.
Morello has also announced his new Power To The People festival – the line-up for which boasts Tankian, along with the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters.
Morello toured with Springsteen on the legendary artist’s ‘Land Of Hope And Dreams’ US tour this year. The Boss released a live video of his cover of Prince‘s ‘Purple Rain’ featuring Morello, filmed at a gig in Minneapolis.
