Turnstile issue statement after ex-guitarist Brady Ebert’s arrest for attempted murder of vocalist Brendan Yates’ father

Ex-Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert has been arrested for the attempted murder of vocalist Brendan Yates’ father, it has been confirmed.

News of his arrest emerged earlier today (April 2), with Montgomery County arrest records (as per The PRP), showing that the arrest took place on March 31.

Records state that Ebert was charged with attempted second degree murder and first-degree assault, while Lambgoat reports that Ebert made his first court appearance yesterday (Wednesday April 1). According to the publication, he has been held without bond since his arrest.

It has now transpired that Ebert was arrested after allegedly hitting Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates’ father William with his car.

According to The Baltimore Banner, Montgomery County Police found William Yates “in the front yard of his Silver Spring home with “trauma to his lower extremities”. Ebert had allegedly driven up to the house, fired his horn and cursed at him before driving off. Yates accused him of then returning to the house and intentionally hitting his father with his car. Afterwards, Ebert allegedly came back one more time to tell Yates he “deserved it” before the first responders arrived.

Yates told police that Ebert had “been causing issues with his family since being fired from the band.”

Turnstile have released a statement on the alleged incident which also confirmed that William Yates survived and has successfully undergone surgery.

“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behaviour affecting himself, the band, and the community,” the statement began. “After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.

“In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection. Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.

“This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.

“We have no language left for Brady.

“Please respect our privacy in this time.”

Since Ebert left Turnstile, the guitarist founded a new band in 2025 called The S.E.T (or ‘The Self Evident Truth’). However, Ebert was kicked out from the band last month after accusing Turnstile of misusing funds from a benefit gig.

He also claimed Turnstile were “pandering to their audience” (per Vice) when the band posted a graphic reading “abolish ICE”.

The band were just about to release of their debut EP ‘Self Evident Truth’ on March 6 when Ebert was ousted.

“Brady is no longer a member of THE S.E.T,” the band wrote online. “We will not stand by his ridiculous comments and behaviour toward the members of our band and our community”.
