Universal Studios to launch two Ozzy Osbourne haunted houses in move to “grow his licensing program around the world”

Universal Studios is launching two Ozzy Osbourne-inspired haunted houses, and has said that it will help “grow his licensing program around the world”.

The two new developments are coming to Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, and will let guests come together to go on a “Crazy Train” trip through his life and career.

As they go through the decades of his life, the haunted houses will feature music from Ozzy’s solo albums throughout, including cuts from 1980’s ‘Blizzard of Ozz’, 1981’s ‘Diary of a Madman’, 1983’s ‘Bark at the Moon’, 1991’s ‘No More Tears’, 2010’s ‘Scream’ and 2020’s ‘Ordinary Man’.

For the Hollywood ride, the journey starts at his hometown in Birmingham, and the ride is inspired by his iconic album ‘Diary of a Madman’, showing how the singer’s persona came to life and he earned the title the Prince Of Darkness.

“Ozzy Osbourne didn’t just help define heavy metal—he created a cultural phenomenon that has influenced generations of music, art and horror,” said John Murdy, Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.

“We previously had the privilege of collaborating with Ozzy, and this new haunted house is an opportunity to honour his extraordinary solo career. Inspired by all 13 of his albums, guests will journey through the dark, surreal worlds that fuelled his music and cemented his legacy as the one and only Prince of Darkness.”

For the Orlando attraction, guests travel through ancient ruins and foreboding dungeons before the “Crazy Train” takes them into another realm inspired by his solo albums and ruled by Ozzy himself.

“We are honoured to collaborate with the Osbourne family to create a unique haunted house that celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne,” said Mike Aiello, Senior Director of Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort.

“It was important for us to create an authentic experience that brings Ozzy’s creativity and personality to life in an eerily immersive new way. Fans will discover so many meaningful details, including a few Easter eggs, as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career.”

Both attractions have got the seal of approval from Ozzy’s widow and former manager Sharon Osbourne and from his son Jack. In a joint statement, the two of them shared: “Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created.

“Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life. Walking through these haunted houses, you’ll recognise so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together.”

In a statement shared by Louder Sound, Barry Drinkwater, Chairman and Founder of Global Merchandising Services also said that the development came after working with Ozzy “Ozzy for over a decade”.

He also added that the partnership with Halloween Horror Nights is “a fantastic tribute to Ozzy and another exciting step as we continue to grow his licensing program around the world.”

At the Orlando resort, Halloween Horror Nights starts on Friday August 28 and runs until Sunday November 1. In Hollywood, it starts on September 3 and runs until Sunday November 1. Visit here for tickets and more information.

The attractions in Hollywood and Orlando aren’t the only new developments made inspired by Ozzy Osboune since the Black Sabbath frontman died last July.

Already there has been the first ever “Ozzy Day” held in his Birmingham hometown exactly one year after his passing. This saw fans show up to pay their respects, a brass band performing Black Sabbath classics, and the mechanical “Ozzy The Bull” statue in New Street station being decorated with the singer’s iconic glasses.

Before them Sharon and Jack confirmed that an AI avatar of the Prince Of Darkness was on the way.

The move was quick to divide fans, with some calling it distasteful, however, amid the skepticism, Jack spoke about the plans on his YouTube channel and said that they were focused on keeping it “tasteful” and determined to make sure it wasn’t “lame”.

Sharon also responded to those who were calling the move a “cash grab” – telling them that she “doesn’t need your fucking money”.

Elsewhere, Jack has confirmed that a biopic about his parents Ozzy and Sharon is “absolutely” happening, and is slated for a 2028 release. He shared earlier this year that a “phenomenal” lead actor was attached.
