Usher has shared details of his “abrupt” wedding with Jennifer Goicoechea.
The 45-year-old music icon thrilled fans worldwide on 11 February when he performed at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
Immediately after performing his smash hit Yeah! in the stadium, the multi-Grammy Award-winning star rushed off to Las Vegas to swap vows with 40-year-old business executive Goicoechea.
Opening up about the sudden marriage, Usher told the New York Post, “It was an abrupt thing. We decided at the last minute to do it.”
He continued, “What was already an amazing moment was peaked by a moment that I will remember forever. I was very happy to not only conclude my time in Las Vegas with (a) residency and then the Super Bowl, but to start on a new journey with my amazing wife.”
Sharing insight into the romantic moment, he said, “It’s probably one of the easiest ceremonies that I’ve ever experienced in my life … I (was able to) really enjoy this moment between me and my wife and my children and my intimate and immediate family who was there.”
Usher was married to Tameka Foster from 2007 until 2009 and then Grace Miguel from 2015 until 2018.
He shares sons Usher ‘Cinco’ V and Naviyd Ely with ex-wife Foster, and shares his daughter Sovereign Bo and son Sire Castrello with Goicoechea.
The singer was also stepfather to Foster’s three other sons from a previous relationship.
Fans can currently see Usher on his Past Present Future World Tour which will continue until May 2025.
