Violet Grohl has announced her debut album Be Sweet To Me and dropped steamy new single 595.

The 19-year-old singer songwriter – whose father is Foo Fighters legend Dave Grohl – will release her first record on May 29 after signing a deal back in January this year.

As the daughter of a grunge rock icon, Violet’s upcoming LP is inspired by alternative music in the late ’80s and ’90s.

She said in a statement: “here’s something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw.

“I’ve listened to that stuff since I was a kid.”

She recorded the collection from late 2024 to early 2025 with producer Justin Raisen – who has worked with the likes of Charli XCX, Kim Gordon and Sky Ferreira – at his Los Angeles home studio.

According to a press release, she was joined by a group of musicians assembled in the “spirit of the Wrecking Crew session players in the ’60s and ’70s”.

Meanwhile, it’s said new single 595 was “inspired by a vintage t-shirt advertising a phone sex line”.

In the cheeky track, Violet sings: “I’ll be your 1-900-G spot, baby / 595 I’m on the line / You won’t last.”

Violet has signed with Republic Records / Island EMI, and her 57-year-old rock star dad has insisted he hasn’t been involved in his daughter starting her own career.

Last month, he told The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X: “This is amazing.

“So Violet, my daughter – she’s 19, she’s about to turn 20 – she made this album with a producer named Justin Raisen, and she did it on her own.

“Like, she met the producer, and they would go to the studio every day, and she would send me songs when she was finished.

“But I had absolutely nothing to do with this record at all. And I had no idea.

“I knew she was looking to sign a record deal, and she is like, ‘Hey, Dad, can I come over for dinner tonight? And I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure. What do you want me to make?’

“And she came over and told me, like, ‘I signed my record deal today.’

“I’m just like, ‘Oh my God!’ So, I’m totally like uninvolved, and I’m like the dad who wants to be there and know everything. And she’s just totally doing her own thing.”

Dave is proud of his daughter – who has provided backing vocals at Foo Fighters gigs, as well as performing lead vocals on All Apologies during Nirvana’s four-song set reunion show at the Fire Aid benefit concert in Los Angeles in January 2025.

The star – who also has daughters Harper, 16, and Ophelia, 11, with his 49-year-old wife, director-and-actress Jordyn Blum – continued: “It’s amazing. The record is amazing. She is so incredibly talented and has such great taste in music.”
