Wargasm sign to Hopeless Records and share frenetic new single ‘Get Down’

Wargasm have announced they have signed to Hopeless Records, and have shared the frenetic new single ‘Get Down’ – listen below.

The track is the first release from the duo of Milkie Way and Sam Matlock through their new label, and their first single since the dystopian ‘Small World Syndrome‘ in July last year.

‘Get Down’ sees them combine pulsing, hyperactive electronic beats and effects with distorted guitars and a huge, anthemic chorus, as the duo explore themes of “isolation, mortality and escapism”.

Check out the first track from the new era of Wargasm here:

Wargasm spoke to NME at Download Festival 2024, revealing at the time that they were preparing to launch a new chapter. “We need to bring more war, and more gasm,” Matlock said.

As well as ‘Small World Syndrome’ last summer, Wargasm also joined Pendulum on the collaborative single ‘Cannibal’, which appeared on the Australian group’s first album in 15 years, ‘Inertia’.

Wargasm released their debut album ‘Venom‘ in 2023, including the Fred Durst collaboration ‘Bang Ya Head’.

In a four-star review, NME wrote: “‘Venom’ is a consistent album that builds on last year’s teaser project ‘EXPLICIT: The MiXXXtape’, but this time with a significantly raw feel. ‘S.A.D.’ is perhaps the epitome of this sound, zooming in and out of heaviness with Matlock’s creepy croaks juxtaposed against Way’s atmospheric cleans in the pre-chorus. ‘Ride The Thunder’ brings triplet rap flows to the table, over a throbbing beat that’s just waiting to kick off, while the title track  leaves zero breathing space, sounding fast and furious from the get-go. It’s a total riot.”

They later teamed up with Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor on the 2024 single ‘70% Dead’, which they described as “a cry out at a world gone mad”.
