Angine de Poitrine have showcased a new song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Canadian math-rock duo performed the track ‘Zugzegk’ live for their US TV debut in their trademark polka dot outfits and masks. You can watch it below.
The unreleased track does not feature on 2024 debut ‘Vol. 1’ and the recent acclaimed ‘Vol II’.
The performance came ahead of their forthcoming sold-out UK tour in October which saw most of the venues upgraded due to high demand.
The dates include headline shows in Leeds, Bristol, London, Glasgow, Dublin and Leeds.
The shows kick off at the Prospect Building in Bristol on October 13 before wrapping up for two shows at The Troxy in London on October 19 and 20.
The anonymous Canadian duo are formed of “Khn de Poitrine” on microtonal guitars and vocals and “Klek de Poitrine” on percussion and vocals.
The duo have experienced a surge in followers in the last two years, particularly due to their elecrifying Live on KEXP session, which has now garnered over 19million views. Since the release of that performance, they’ve won over fans like Dave Grohl, who professed that the band “absolutely blew my fucking mind” and called them “so completely bonkers, dude”.
Reviewing their performance at The Great Escape earlier this year NME described the duo as “inciting moshpits and adulation for the viral spectacle of their microtonal madness. While AI slop may be on the rise, there’s something in the startling unpredictability and sheer musicality of these two polka-dotted aliens that feels essentially human.”
It added: “Rocking through cuts from 2024 debut ‘Vol. 1’ and the recent acclaimed ‘Vol II’, the duo delivered an absurd but enthralling spectacle, with their microtonal song structures defying all convention but still inspiring mass sing-alongs to riffs and feral reactions to the likes of ‘Fabienk’, ‘Sarniez’, ‘Sherpa’ and ‘Mata Zyklek’.
“Naturally, stage banter only came in the form of robotic alien growls, with the duo letting their sound do the talking, one that lands somewhere between the menace of Primus and the intricacy of Battles. The first major set of The Great Escape 2026 was one so engrossing, it’ll be hard to top.”
