Watch Bad Bunny’s band pay tribute to Avicii at Stockholm show with ‘Wake Me Up’ cover

Bad Bunny’s band have paid a tribute to Avicii during their show in Sweden, breaking out a cover of ‘Wake Me Up’. Check out footage below.

The slot comes as part of the Puerto Rican singer’s huge world tour in support of his latest album ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’, which dropped last year. The massive run of stadium and arena shows are taking him across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Following an unforgettable night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of last month – his only UK stops on the entire tour – Bad Bunny went over to Sweden this past weekend for a slot at the Friends Arena.

Held on Saturday (July 11), the show saw the singer’s band take a minute to pay tribute to late Swedish DJ, remixer, and record producer Avicii. Remembering the artist, who died in 2018, guitarist José Eduardo Santana performed a rendition of Avicii’s hit song ‘Wake Me Up’ on the cuatro – a traditional string instrument from Puerto Rico.

The song cover put a distinctive spin on the dance classic, which was originally released in 2013 with Aloe Blacc. Check it out below.

Before the Sweden show, Bad Bunny used the second of his two shows in London to bring out Damon Albarn as a special guest to perform Gorillaz tracks ‘Clint Eastwood’ and ‘Tormenta’.

The collab comes as Bad Bunny features on the studio version of ‘Tormenta’, which featured on Gorillaz’ 2023 album ‘Cracker Island’. Albarn had confirmed that they had joined forces back in 2021, telling Warp in an interview that he and the Puerto Rican superstar had linked up while in Jamaica.

Elsewhere in his Tottenham set on night two, Bad Bunny nodded to Oasis with a ‘Wonderwall’ instrumental played on the Cuatro before he launched into ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ track ‘TURiSTA’.

The show in London was given a five-star review from NME, and praised as “a reminder of the power of community”.

“Bad Bunny’s arrival in Tottenham is more than a concert: it’s a vindication and celebration,” it read. “The streets around the stadium feel like a carnival – entire buildings are decked with flags representing countries across Latin America, and restaurants blare out salsa while merchants hand out free deditos (cheese-filled Colombian pastries).”

“Tonight, at this spectacular show, Bad Bunny reminds us that we have to celebrate and care for one another and cherish these memories while we still have the people we love and the places that we’re from,” it added.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show was the most-watched of all time. With the 2026 appearance, he became the first Latin male artist and the first artist performing primarily in Spanish to take the prestigious headline slot, playing a set that celebrated the history and diversity of Latin music styles.

The set saw guest appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, while Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba and Karol G were all spotted among the dancers.

In terms of pure US television audience, it was recently revealed that the set drew 128.2million views, putting it in fourth place in the all-time rankings – behind Michael Jackson in 1993, Usher in 2024 and Kendrick Lamar last year.
