Watch Dua Lipa’s Rousing Cover Of Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another’

Performance became the latest hometown cover while on her Radical Optimism tour

Dua Lipa paid homage to another hometown classic Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, performing a cover of Blondie’s “One Way or Another” during her Radical Optimism tour. “Here in New York, I’m actually spoiled with the choice,” she told the crowd, before revealing, “tonight we thought we could do something [by] a real New York icon…let’s just go for it.”

Fans began cheering as soon as the guitar riffs started, and sang every word of Dua’s cover of the 1978 track with her and her band, all clad in black.

A concert attendee who uploaded the video to YouTube captured Dua and her band digging into the rendition, singing in close quarters toward the end of the song. Fans gave her around a 20-second ovation.

It’s just the latest cover that Lipa’s done while on her marathon international tour, which also includes Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing,” ACDC’s Highway To Hell,” and Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares To You.” She’s also sung a range of songs in different languages while overseas, including Alizée’s “Moi… Lolita,” in Paris, and the Spanish language version of Enrique Iglesias’ “Héroe” in Madrid.

Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism tour, which began last November, continues in New York City through September 21, then heads to Miami for two dates before going west, concluding its US leg in Seattle on October 16. She’s then performing a slew of dates throughout South America before concluding in Mexico on December 5.
